The new season is nearly here once more and it is time for some Premier League Predictions. Can anyone stop Manchester City and their chase for a third successive title? Can Liverpool go one better and claim a first Premier League title? Will Tottenham Hotspur sustain a title challenge for a full season? Who will be relegated? With many twists and turns ahead, here is a predicted final Premier League table from Last Word on Football.
Premier League Predictions – Final Table 2019/2020
Catching Manchester City The Aim Again – Premier League Predictions Top Four
1st Place – Manchester City. The team to chase once again, already making their mark with a Community Shield victory over Liverpool. The signing of Rodri strengthens the case for the Champions and although they will be pushed close again, City will take the title once more.
2nd Place – Liverpool. A staggering points total and only one defeat made second place a bitter pill to swallow for Liverpool. A Champions League victory reduced the blow and they will be determined to go one better this time. Predicted to fall just short once more.
3rd Place – Tottenham Hotspur. Now a top-four regular but it is hard to argue they are capable of challenging the top two to the bitter end. A third-place finish will ensure further Champions League football and leave Arsenal behind for another year.
4th Place – Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Soljskaer started well as manager but familiar issues arose; player tantrums and the unsettling presence of Paul Pogba need to be addressed. Just enough quality to pip Chelsea to fourth spot.
Trying to Break the Top Four
5th Place –Chelsea. Chelsea miss the top four due to their transfer embargo and Frank Lampard. Lampard didn’t improve Derby County’s league position last season and will find it tough in the Premier League. Working with youngsters such as Mason Mount will perhaps help him but his lack of experience will cost Chelsea top four.
6th Place – Arsenal. The signing of Pepe will add pace but defensive frailties will cost Arsenal too many times. Top four will be the aim but top six is where they will finish the season.
7th Place – Leicester City. Even the impending loss of Harry Maguire to Manchester United won’t stop Brendan Rodgers’ team having a strong season. They will beat teams at the top and can improve on last season’s ninth position.
8th – Wolverhampton Wanderers. A fabulous first season. European football may just affect Premier League performances but expect a solid top eight finish for the Midlands club.
9th – Everton. Everton believe they can break the top four but their defending under Marco Silva is woeful. Another frustrating season for the Toffees and expect Silva to be one of the first for the manager sack race.
Mid Table – Mediocrity for Some, Stability for Others
10th – Burnley. With no European adventures to distract them, Burnley will move up five places from last season to secure safety comfortably.
11th – Watford. No danger of relegation but little sign of anything other than mid-table for Watford this time out. Maybe another cup run.
12th – Aston Villa. Fulham spent over £100 million last season and it failed. Villa have the same risks this summer seconding £130 million but with Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings amongst others, Villa can have a relatively safe reintroduction to Premier League life.
13th – Bournemouth. Eddie Howe continues to exceed expectations and will no doubt be linked with top jobs throughout the season as and when managers start to fall. 13th will be another good season.
14th – Southampton. The Saints May have flirtations with relegation once more but will have enough to pull away as the season progresses. Still lacking quality to reach mid-table but may finish a couple of places higher this season.
Epl Week 5 Predictions 2019
15th – West Ham United. Another inconsistent season for the Hammers. There will be eye-catching performances for the right and wrong reasons. Another frustrating season for the fans will see a bottom half finish.
16th – Crystal Palace. There is little to suggest that Palace can have anything other than a regular battle with relegation. They won’t go down but just lack the quality to be anything other than a lower table team. It may be Roy Hodgson’s final season because tactically he seems to be behind the times of the modern Premier League.

Relegation Dog Fight – 17th to 20th
17th – Brighton and Hove Albion. With Chris Hughton gone and Graham Potter now in charge there will not be any major sea change at Brighton and Hove Albion. Just enough to survive.
18th – Newcastle United. Steve Bruce has come in but lacks the support of the Toon Army. Money spent may strengthen but Bruce’s record in the Premier League and the ongoing issues off the pitch will see Newcastle United relegated.
19th – Sheffield United. Chris Wilder has done a sterling job with the Blades. They have broken their transfer record more than once but it won’t be enough to keep them up. A swift return to the Championship for the Sheffield club.
20th – Norwich City. A football club that is hard to dislike. Raucous fans and a positive manager in Daniel Farke. Trust is put in those players that got the club the promised land with just £1 million spent in the summer. Sadly a long season and will be relegated before the season ends.

The odds on Chelsea finishing in the top four next season have lengthened after they agreed to sell star player Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. The Belgian forward banged in 16 goals and provided 15 assists in 2018/19, meaning he directly contributed to more goals than any other Premier League player. He will leave a massive void and Chelsea have been hit with a transfer ban for the next two windows, so they are unlikely to replace him. An appeal has been lodged with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but as things stand they will be unable to strengthen this summer.
The Blues secured a third-placed finish this season, one point ahead of Tottenham and two clear of Arsenal. However, without Hazard’s contribution, they would have struggled badly and they will need to find another source of goals and creativity. He was at his brilliant best in leading Chelsea to a thumping 4-1 win over Arsenal in the Europa League final, and Blues fans can treasure plenty of great memories of his time at Stamford Bridge. Yet they could experience short-term difficulties now that he has pushed through a move to the Bernabeu.
Many bookmakers now have shorter odds on Man Utd finishing in the top four than Chelsea next season, according to a bookmaker review and a look at the best prices on offer. Man City and Liverpool are all but certain to finish in the top four once again, while Spurs are given a strong chance and many bookies see it as a straight fight between Chelsea and Man Utd to secure that final place. Arsenal endured a dismal end to the season and they are unlikely to strengthen significantly in the summer, so they are considered outsiders, but some sites now have similar odds on them and Chelsea.

Whoever replaces Maurizio Sarri as manager will have a tough job on his hands as he bids to steer this team into the top four once more. They have already signed Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund and he should give them another intriguing dimension in attack. But Pedro and Willian have seen better days, so it will be vital that they keep hold of Callum Hudson-Odoi, who submitted a transfer request in January in a bid to force through a move to Bayern Munich.
Gonzalo Higuain’s loan spell will not be extended, so they will only have Olivier Giroud up front. Yet they had three decent strikers out on loan this season – Alvaro Morata at Atletico Madrid, Michy Batshuayi at Crystal Palace and Tammy Abraham at Aston Villa – and at least one of them is likely to return to the fold. Bakayoko could also return, although he was a bit of a disaster last season, while Victor Moses is another option to bring back if the new manager wants to play with wing-backs.
Yet these players were ultimately loaned out because they were not considered good enough to make the cut at Chelsea, and it is hard to see them challenging for the title without heavy investment in the first team. But they still have plenty of experience at the back, while there are a number of options in midfield. Matteo Kovacic could join on a permanent deal, while they have N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Ross Barkley all competing for a place. Ruben Loftus-Cheek should be given a chance when he returns from a serious injury too. If the new manager returns Kante to the holding midfield role, Chelsea could have a strong season. But they will nervously be watching the progress made by Tottenham, Man Utd and Arsenal in this summer’s transfer market and hoping that trio do not strengthen too much.
